ECM Therapy: Effective Treatment for Tissue Repair

You may have heard about Extra Cellular Matrix (ECM) Therapy, which is often referred to as Stem Cell Therapy, and have wondered how they’re being used to treat injury. ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix) Therapy—also known as regenerative medicine—promotes the repair of diseased, dysfunctional, or injured tissue using ECM. Dr. Ruht's Regenerative Medicine Orthopedic Surgery Practice offers this treatment option because we believe it is an effective means to help patients heal from an injury or degenerative condition. Our goal is significant improvement in pain and function.

What is ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix)?

Extra Cellular Matrix (ECM) has the unique power to develop into specialized cell types in your body, and for that reason, can serve as a repair system. ECM, or Stem Cell Therapy, provides new cells as your body grows and replaces specialized cells that are damaged or destroyed. They can divide continuously to produce new cells. As they divide, they can change into the other types of cell that make up your body.

ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix) can differentiate, regenerate and can lead to faster healing. For many patients, ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix) therapy provides them with pain relief that can last for years or even permanently.

How do ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix) injections work?

ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix) therapy uses its natural processes to speed up healing. For that reason, you will be at minimal risk of your body rejecting the treatment.

It is a minimally invasive procedure that doesn't require surgery. ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix) is injected into the injured or arthritic area.

Often the treatment method used to treat an injury might not be as long but the post-procedural recovery time is. With ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix) therapy, you'd be looking at minimal recovery time. Thus, you can expect a minimal interruption in your daily activities with this treatment.

Is ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix) Treatment Effective?

With ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix) therapy, you are not just treating your symptoms, you are repairing yourself cell by cell using nature's most outstanding biological miracle, the ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix). Since they have the  potential to develop into such a broad range of cells, ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix) can be used to help in the repair of tissue.

Proponents of ECM, or Stem Cell Therapy, point to clinical studies that have shown generally positive results.

The science behind ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix) therapy is constantly expanding and Dr. Ruht will continue to be on the cutting edge of training and techniques.

Concerns Involving ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix) Treatment

There are potential risks including infection, bleeding and tendon compromise. These risks are minimized by proper technique including chloroxylenol scrub prior to the procedure at home repeated in the office and ChloraPrep. These are the best medicines available to avoid infection. Important to know is whether or not you are known to be a carrier of MRSA (let Dr. Ruht know).

Private insurance companies do not cover ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix) therapy or other regenerative procedures. It is considered experimental and therefore is a self-pay procedure that cannot be billed to insurance.

ECM (Extra Cellular Matrix) therapy is an elective procedure requiring an office consultation with Dr. Ruht to determine if the treatment is appropriate for you. There are contraindications which will be discussed at the time of that consultation.

With years of experience treating orthopaedic and musculoskeletal injuries, Dr. Ruht strongly believes in the power of natural healing and the future of regenerative medicine. Dr. Ruht offers his patients the opportunity to receive nationally respected regenerative medicine treatments close to home.

THE ECM (EXTRA CELLULAR MATRIX) PROCEDURE IS PERFORMED IN THE OFFICE WITH LOCAL ANESTHESIA AND DOES NOT REQUIRE GENERAL ANESTHESIA OR HOSPITALIZATION.
